Final Post

Overall this course has definitely been one of my favorites I’ve taken. I didn’t really even know what to expect when going into taking it. I thought I might want to major in communications and that’s why I decided on taking it. I thought it was a very interesting course and really taught me a lot of stuff I probably wouldn’t have ever learned without taking it. I really did like this course though and I’m glad I took it!

My favorite project I think was probably the video story project. I’ve always liked making videos and putting together movies and have been doing it since I was a little kid so this one was super enjoyable for me. I also think this project was the best I did all semester. The end product was fun and it made happy to look back on the trip and be able to share that with the class!

In  the future I’m not sure exactly what I will be able to use. I think probably the logo illustrator will most likely be the most used for me out of all the programs we learned to use. I could use this definitely if I started a business or even to help a friend out to start a business. I liked using this program even though I found it to be one of the most challenging of the semester. I hope I will be able to use it though because I think it’s a very interesting program and is a great one to learn about!

Because I am only nineteen, I haven’t really decided what I want to do with my life. I feel like I change my mond every week with which career path I’d like to go down. When I started this semester I was interested in communication as my major and a minor in spanish to become a translator but now I’m thinking about going towards the medical field. I really did like the creativity that was offered with the course. I’ve always been interested in art and it was cool to do that with technology although I don’t think this course will is one that pertains to my future career.

There are not really any skills I would have liked to learn more about in this course mainly because I don’t really know about publisher or adobe. I think this course really covered a lot of ground and I enjoyed the amount we learned during the semester. I didn’t think it was too little or too much work.

I didn’t look to outside sources to help me out this course, I felt like it covered everything necessary and I was able to follow all the instructions perfectly!

Overall I really enjoyed this course. Even though I don’t really see myself using it’s information a lot in the future, it was still really interesting and I never dreaded doing the work. I really liked the feedback that I got from both my TA Chris and my fellow peers. All of it was extremely helpful and gave me a new perspective on each assignment. I would definitely recommend this class to someone and I am very glad I decided to take this course!

Thanks for everything this semester everyone! It’s been a great way to wrap up my freshman year of college!

🙂

Final Video Story

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1iUnQZUtpsg&feature=youtu.be

For my final video I chose to video tape part of my recent vacation down to Southern California in Palm Springs and Huntington Beach. I chose to incorporate not only scenery, activities we did, and the process of the trip, but also interviews of my friends who went with me on the trip.

For interviewing my friends I just asked  them a few questions like, “What are some of your favorite memories with me?” and “What do you like most about me?” Having my topic be ‘About Me,’ I wanted to find out some things they liked about me and why we are all friends.

I really wanted to show clips from the trip because it’s probably the most interesting thing I’ve done in awhile and it was also a lot of fun! The girls I went with were coworkers and friends of mine. The trip was so much fun and it was really hard cutting it down to only about minutes long!

For my final video I decided to cut out a few interviews. I felt like just three was enough to capture what I was trying to do in the video. I wanted to focus more on the trip part because that is the most interesting! This also allowed the video to flow a little bit better and just created a better feel I believe. I think the video flows a lot better now than it did before and I think it’s more enjoyable and entertaining to watch. I also included the names of everyone in the video, as well as a title and conclusion.

Overall I am much happier with the final video than the draft! I think it is the perfect length, has good sound when people are talking, and show the trip really well!

Draft Video

For my draft video I chose to video tape part of my recent vacation down to Southern California in Palm Springs and Huntington Beach.

The trip was so much fun and it was really hard cutting it down to only two and a half minutes!

I tried to make the video flow as well as I could but I know there’s definitely some areas I could work on. I was thinking about maybe adding pictures from the trip in there as well but I don’t know so let me know if you think that would be a good idea! I’d like to add more but I also dont want to make the video too long because I think it’s a good amount of time right now.

The music I put in it is all the music that isn’t copyrighted and was already on my computer. I tried to go with more upbeat songs that went well with the video. I think they fit pretty well!

Overall, I’m pretty proud of this video, I think there is some spots I could change so let me know if you guys have any suggestions 🙂

Final Audio

For my final audio story I chose to interview my family, my sister, mom and dad, about one of the most traumatic days in my life – the day I had to get seven stitches. I would have loved to have done an audio story about maybe a trip I’ve been on, or another experience, but this was something that effected the whole family and is obviously still very fresh in everyone’s mind even ten years later. My family really showed how much they cared about me this day and even though I had such a horrible experience, it showed me how much they loved me.

I chose to just use my family’s voice in this final audio because I wanted it to just go straight into the story. I chose not to do any narrative because I felt like it gave the story more suspense without it. This way no one really knows what will happen unless they listen to the entire story.

I wanted to break up the story with my family members telling the story back to back and kind of leading off each other. It was great that they all remembered the day so well because they all pretty much had the same story at the end of it. I chose to not have my sister and my mom identify themselves even though heir voices are so similar because I felt like it would take away from the story a bit.

For the final the only things I ended up really changing are the volume levels when my sister talks because they were slightly louder than the others. I also cut of the beginning where my mom says what is going to happen at the end. This way I was able to not give away the end of the story. I think the final turned out really well and flows perfectly!

Draft Audio

For my audio story I chose to interview my family, my sister, mom and dad, about one of the most traumatic days in my life – the day I had to get seven stitches.

I  chose to just use my family’s voice in this draft because I wanted it to just go straight into the story. I think it would maybe be a little better if I did a little narrative at the end and beginning. That way I could explain what was happening a little better. I do like how it just goes into it though. I think it makes it a little more dramatic.

I wanted to break up the story with my family members telling the story back to back and kind of leading off each other. It was great that they all remembered the day so well because they all pretty much had the same story at the end of it. The only problem was that my mom was the only one who talked about what happened in the emergency room, and that was a big part of it. I could definitely go back and reinterview my sister and dad to have them talk about that. I could also discuss that myself.

Overall, I think that it came together well. I’m sure the more I look over it, I’ll find bits and pieces to change. I hope to get some helpful feedback to help me push it that much farther!

Final Logo

Image

For my final logo I decided to go with something that not only goes along with the topic of just me and also where I’m from. I knew initially that I wanted this logo to represent where I came from which is right next to Portland, Oregon. I find the city so fascinating; full of unique people, beautiful architecture, and much more. I also wanted to tie in a mountain in the background to also express my love for the outdoors and all that is around where I live. I wanted to also stick to blacks, greys, and whites because I think they just make everything look very clean and classy. For the final I also added green to the mountain to give the logo a more interesting feel. I put my name in the buildings because I thought it was a very cool way to tie myself into my surroundings and show that I belong to this city.

I started by drawing out each building then used the gradient to give it a more interesting look. Next I did the small buildings behind my “name buildings.” I used a more dramatic gradient to add more contrast between the buildings. After that I added the mountain in the back to represent the nature, using the green color this time and white. I once again used the gradient to give the illusion of snow at the top of the mountain; also to kind of blend it into the background/sky. I changed the circle shadow to shadows of the buildings instead. Lastly I added the flare. I added this mainly just because I thought it looked really cool and gave it more of the nature-y vibe, somewhat like a sunrise peaking above the mountain. I felt it looked more natural coming from behind the mountain.

I’m very proud of this final logo, even more than the draft logo. The final one really captures me and I like it very much!!

I;m very proud of this logo. I think it came out even better than I could have imagined. I believe it really represents me and where I came from!
